High Density 5G NR Coverage Survey in London

Siroda recently completed a high density survey of live 5G NR network coverage across London. The measurements were collected over several days, covering approximately 1,000 km of roads and producing a large volume of samples for analysis.

The survey used a Rohde & Schwarz measurement system with two TSME6 network scanners installed in a custom motorcycle based setup. Using a motorcycle allowed a greater number of roads to be covered within the dense urban environment, including areas that would have been difficult or time consuming to survey using a car.

The purpose of the survey was to validate 5G NR mobile network coverage predictions against measurements taken on the live network.

The collected data was processed using 10 metre averaging and organised into 10 × 10 metre grid squares, with a minimum of 50 measurement results required for each bin. This provided a detailed dataset for comparison with the predicted network coverage.
