6.7 GHz CW Test Transmission: Coverage and Path Loss for Band n104
Siroda | 13th August 2026
The upper 6 GHz band is being considered as a way to add capacity to mobile networks. 3GPP Band n104 covers 6.425–7.125 GHz and offers a substantial amount of contiguous spectrum. However, signals above 6 GHz behave differently from those used in established 3.5 GHz (n78) deployments.
To understand these differences in practice, Siroda recently carried out a 6.7 GHz test transmission under an Ofcom Test and Development licence. This allowed us to collect measurements under real-world UK conditions and examine coverage limits, link budgets and the implications for future site design.
The trial has given us useful early data on how upper 6 GHz systems are likely to perform. It also helps us adapt our measurement tools and methods ahead of future commercial deployments.
